Important Information
1. AIR-CONDITIONING / FRESH AIR / HEATING There are three air-conditioning units, 1 in each bedroom set at 26°C to give the ideal temperature. These need to be switched off during the day, when the windows can be opened to let the sea breeze waft through; downstairs we have fan air cooling. In each room all windows have white blinds which need to be pulled down in extremely hot weather to help keep the villa cool, and also to protect curtains and furniture.
Please note: Air-conditioning/heating is charged at £4.00 GBP per unit/bedroom per day (i.e. £12.00 GBP per day for Villa).
1a. WATER This commodity is in short supply, and expensive in Cyprus. Please use sparingly. Hot water is heated by the solar panels on the roof.
2. LIGHTING There is electrical lighting throughout the villa and around and in the pool. Once again, to keep the temperature down please keep switched off as much as possible, especially when going out.
3. FOOTWEAR Because of the tile and marble flooring, we do ask that all shoes are removed before entering the villa.
4. TOWELS / LINEN Towels are provided, two for each person. However, we do request that none are taken down to the beach. Linen is available for all bedrooms. Tea towels etc. are also provided.
5. TOILETRIES Toilet rolls and soap are in the villa. Please replenish these before departure. Please note: In Cyprus used toilet paper must be put in the bins provided and NOT flushed down the toilet.
6. RUBBISH All rubbish in the villa must be taken to the end of the road (about 150 metres) every day and deposited in the large green container that is emptied by the council approximately 3 times a week.
7. SMOKING Please refrain from smoking in the villa at all times.
8. CLEANING The villa is cleaned throughout and all new clean linen placed on the beds immediately before your arrival. In the Kitchen there is a washing machine for your use, and rotary line in the garden. If you need any cleaning done during your stay, please contact our housekeeper Sue on 99 026683 and pay her for any work undertaken. Alternatively, there are many laundries in and around Paphos.
9. BREAKAGES Any breakages please replace or contact Sue and report damage done.
10. SUNBEDS / GARDEN CHAIRS These we keep in the villa when not let out, for security purposes. However when on holiday they may be kept outside by the pool at all times.
11. BAR-B-Q There is a purpose built bar-b-q by the swimming pool, with a spit, which can be used at all times. Charcoal can be purchased locally between £1.40 and £2.00 per sack. (Please clean bar-b-q after use).
12. FRIDGE There is a large fridge/freezer please keep the setting on number 3, as above this the motors burn out very quickly in the heat.
13. TELEVISION / DVD
Flat screen cable/satellite TV with over 200 channels including CNN, BBC etc. There is also a DVD player, radio, CD and tape player.
14. NEWSPAPERS
English Cyprus Mail is on sale from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and a weekly Cyprus News every Friday. The English Daily Mail is on sale every day, printed in Athens!
15. MOSQUITOS In the very hot weather there maybe a few around, but being away from the beach on a higher level there is no real problem. For your own peace of mind we do advise you to purchase spray so as to protect yourself.
16. POOL You have the use of your own private swimming pool, please no diving, as it is only 1.5 metres deep at one end, please also watch children at all times as there is no lifeguard. Nearby at Coral Bay there are various water sports during the high season, also boat trips from Paphos and Laitchi.
Never enter the swimming pool wearing any suntan creams or oils as this destroys the pool liner which we have just replaced.
17. RESTAURANTS
There are so many good restaurants both in Peyia, Coral Bay, Paphos, along the Tomb of the Kings Road, and especially up in the mountain villages, meze is the main dish, sometimes 20 different courses of fish, or meat, or vegetables...and very cheap. In the villa you will find a black folder with information on one that we have visited and can recommend.
18. EMERGENCY
If you have an accident at home or in the car, call 112, and Paphos Hospital 09 09 01436. There are medical clinics and private hospitals in Paphos, call in at any time, make sure you carry your Passport and travel insurance documents, if you need more help call at number 5 Morning Star, Dave and Karen Shore who live there permanently will certainly help you.
